Family Photos in Edina’s Arneson Acres Park

There’s nothing quite like making beautiful imagery with a delightful family in their element. Samantha and Kayne wanted to make the most of their first professional photos with their little ones and they liked my natural, lifestyle family photography so they sent me an inquiry, filled out my questionnaire, and we booked an open evening to make it happen.

They brought their lovely children Elouise (4) and Kamden (2) to meet me at Arneson Acres park an hour and a half before sunset and we had a delightful time playing and posing in a variety of spots, from flowers to fountain to grass and trees.

It always helps to get comfortable and settled in first, so we simply walked about a little before jumping into photos. Then we found a nice spot to set the blanket out and take out a favorite flower from the bouquet they brought.

Movement and things to do (read: fun distractions!) always help to take your minds off being in front of the lens. So we got up and moved around and took some more portraits. We also took an opportunity for a nice little outfit change for the kiddos.

There is a beautiful fountain in the middle of the park, and you know what kids often love? Water and splashing and reflections, that’s what. So we took our time to focus on portraits of dad and son.

Of course, Elouise wanted in on the action as well, so it quickly turned into dad and kids.

Since the light was just PERFECT, we wrapped things up with a big group standing cuddle pose with some beautiful backlight from the sunset. Oh. My. God. Did they turn out GORGEOUS or what?

The "Standing Cuddle Puddle" pose (patent pending 😉). Sometimes photos work out more perfectly than you could possibly imagine. This was one of those times.
